This area of Mecklenburg County includes the North and East sides of Charlotte, Mint Hill and Matthews.  These areas offer steady growth, although they took off a little later than Huntersville and SE Charlotte. The pricing is good and you might even get a little land under your house!

The University area, centered around UNC Charlotte, is a great place to find homes, townhomes and spacious condos for prices that are a little more reasonable than other parts of Charlotte. The University  area is primarily located between Hwy 49, Hwy 29 and W.T. Harris Blvd.  Plenty of shopping, restaurants, and a quick commute to South Charlotte via  I-485 or Uptown Charlotte. An up and coming project is the Lynx train line. Currently, the numbers and the project itself are being worked out. The Lynx line just took off in South Charlotte with rave reviews and great ridership so we are hoping it does the same in North Charlotte!

Mint Hill is located in East-Southeast Mecklenburg County and offers a country atmosphere with the convenience of   the city.  A recent surge of upscale homes in various neighborhoods such as Summerwood, Red Oaks, and  Old Sycamore are available as well as a sprawling ranch-style homes on a little acreage.
Mint Hill has it all. It's popularity has taken off as the completion of the I-485 beltway make it a quick commute to the University Area or South Charlotte. A proposed major new mall is in the works and should be coming on board by the year 2012.

Matthews, known for its small-town charm, offers tree lined streets and a quaint historic downtown.  It has a  very strong school district and offers annual friendly community events such as the Matthews Festival.  The small down town area has a wonderful Children's Theatre, with plays and acting camps happening year round. Local restaurateurs and small boutiques are on every corner. Matthews is in located in both Mecklenburg and Union County.
